Tonight's game ball went to Matthew. He brought some heavy iron to the plate with no fewer than three doubles, and he finished off his perfect 4-for-4 with a solid single. He came through on defense at every opportunity, keeping the ball in front of him, and getting the ball to the right place every time.
Tonight's hitting and fielding was great from every player. I have a feeling tonight it is a preview of a lot of games we're going to have this year. I feel as though I'm not doing my job because I'm not spending any time at the end of the games telling the boys the things they need to work on and how they have to play at a higher level. I can't say anybody could ever expect more from a group of boys this age than we saw tonight, though, so the speeches have to be saved for another day.
